What is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin, first announced in 2008 by an individual or group named Satoshi Nakamoto in a PDF document titled "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System," is fundamentally based on public transactions within a distributed structure known as a "blockchain."
What is the Source of Bitcoin?
You can think of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as digital data with a value determined by market conditions. This digital data has no physical equivalent, like precious metals or printed money. It's produced virtually using specific, publicly accessible algorithms. Bitcoin production is done through Bitcoin mining, which operates using blockchain technology.
What is an Altcoin?
The term Altcoin, derived as an abbreviation of "Alternative Coin," refers to different cryptocurrencies created as alternatives to Bitcoin. Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Dash, and similar coins are all part of the Altcoin group. As of 2021, there are over 5,000 Altcoins worldwide. Ethereum is the Altcoin with the highest market capitalization after Bitcoin.
